FREE FOOD KITCHEN

The kitchen for free is one of the most important parts of our work in the
Centre. When the Kitchen first started, we cooked 27 meals per week, but these days we
are preparing meals for 150 people. Part of our operation delivers a warm meal to peoples’ homes who are housebound and cannot reach the Centre. The other part of our Free Food Kitchen provides meals for people who are mobile and can reach the Centre.

It is a fact that this is the only meal of the day for some people.

In the kitchen there are two working shifts, with three helpers on each shift. We commit to delivering meals to 80 families for a whole year, which are delivered on bicycles. It is however difficult to continue food deliveries on bicycles in the severe parts of the Winter.

We grow our own vegetables at the Centre in a 0.7 hectare field , assisted by three gardeners.
